My Impromptu White House Visit – March 15, 2019!

Just as I was relaxing at home a bit from a hectic day, I received a phone call from the White House, asking me if I could be in DC at the White House the next day, Friday the 15th of March.

Of course I could and travel arrangements were made.

The next morning I left Arkansas for another trip to Washington DC, but this time it was different.

This time I wasn’t going to work, but I was a guest of the President for a historic event: the signing of our Presidents first veto, rejecting a congressional resolution that would have blocked him from funding the border wall without congressional approval.

He stated “ consistent with the law and the legislative process designed by our founders, today I am vetoing that resolution. Congress has the freedom to pass this resolution and I have the duty to veto it. I’m very proud to veto it”
As I stood next to our Vice President Mike Pence, I looked around and saw many familiar faces of people I have become friends with and met before.

Sheriffs from all over the nation, Angel parents, Attorney General William Barr and Homeland Security Secretary Kristjen Nielsen and many others.

After he signed the veto, President Trump handed me the historic pen.

What a profound and proud moment it was to be in the Oval Office, in the presence of 2 of the most powerful men in the world. It left me speechless, emotional and had me thinking back to many years ago, when I didn’t think my voice mattered.

But since Dominic’s death I learned that I have more power and strength than could have ever imagined. It’s deep within us and it’s a choice we make to use it or leave it.

I chose to be my sons voice. Loud and clear. I protected him in his short life and I will make sure he will never be forgotten.

I became bold, fierce and fearless because I am on a mission to bring about change and awareness, so no other family has to go through this kind of grief and pain.

I continue the fight so YOU never have to.

My favorite quote: ” if you don’t stand for something, you will fall for everything”

Thank you to each and everyone for the sweet and kind messages, the love and support and the many prayers. It all helps so very much.
