Acting Department of Homeland Security Secretary Chad F. Wolf and Acting Director Matthew Albence invited me (representing AVIAC = Advocates for Victims Of Illegal Alien Crime) and 3 other Angel-parents to meet in Raleigh, North Carolina on November 25, 2019
The issue of the roundtable meeting was to discuss several sheriffs who represent counties that refuse to adhere to US. Immigration law and are failing to cooperate with ICE on detainers for dangerous and violent criminal aliens.
Secretary Wolf cited several examples where sanctuary policies have threatened public safety in North Carolina.
Myself and the 3 other angel parents shared our tragedies of how our children and thousand of other Americans were killed by an illegal alien and how it could have been prevented.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Acting DHS Director Wold and Acting ICE Director Albence called upon the Sheriffs of Buncombe,Durham, Forsyth, Guilford, Mecklenburg and Wake counties to abandon their sanctuary policies and work WITH ICE to strengthen their partnership and keep communities safe from dangerous criminal aliens .
563 criminal alien have been released from jail in North Carolina in FY 2019 after ICE issued a detainee for them.
Over 90% of ICE arrests are convicted criminals and roughly 70% of the arrests are made at local jails and state prisons.
Each victim or lost family member of illegal alien crime represents a preventable tragedy
Sanctuary policies do not protect communities, they endanger them. All too often, criminal aliens are released into communities only to reoffend, requiring the men and women of ICE to needlessly risk their lives to track down these fugitives in neighborhoods or at workplaces instead of the security of a local jail.
Sanctuary jurisdictions that choose to not cooperate with ICE are likely to see an increase in at-large arrests in communities.
Judicial warrants are not necessary for local law enforcement to hold criminal aliens up to 48 hours for ICE to take into custody.
When law enforcement agencies fail to honor detainers and release serious criminal offenders onto the streets, it undermines ICE’s ability to protect public safety and carry out its mission.
In attendance were also Lt. Governor Dan Forest, speaker of the NC House of Representatives Tim Moore, Congressman Mark Walker, State Rep Carson Smith, Destin Hall, Dan Bishop, Jason Saine and several Sheriffs SamPage, Greg Sebolt, Richie Simons, Darren Campbell and Terry Johnson amongst many others.
American citizens deserve and have a right to feel safe in their communities.
Sanctuary cities and states need to be abolished and ALL law enforcement agencies need to work together to prevent more Americans to become Victims.
These roundtable discussions need to happen all over the country to educate the public about what is going on in their communities.
We all need to be better informed about illegal immigration, sanctuary cities and states and what we each can do to stop this and protect our families.
